Hello reader, My name is Alberto Aviles. I am an artist currently living in Costa Mesa. For the most part I am self taught. My major at the moment is undecided. Although I have majored in Graphic Design in the past at the Art Institute of North Hollywood (unfortunately) . I have been drawing/painting seriously( with intent to sell) for the past 3 years.I like to describe my work as geometrical abstraction. When I am producing a piece or a drawing, I am unconscious as far as ideas go. I do not draw/paint to evoke a feeling inside of me, I do not draw/paint to express my stance on political issues. LIke I said, it’s unconscious work, I do not have a set idea or a finished product in my mind at the beginning of a piece. I simply begin the process without any intent to express emotion on my part. However, a piece of mine may make you feel a certain, or change your train of thought for a few seconds. If so, great!
My work has been mainly influenced through graffiti, artists of the street variety, and various forms of lettering. Had it not been for my introduction to graffiti in middle school, I probably would not be where I’m at today artistically. As far as inspirations are concerned, I have many and I find more everyday. I am inspired by many different artist’s work, color schemes, shapes, lettering, light, clothing ect. All art is influenced or inspired one way or another by some outside source which is channeled through our brains, down to our fingers, and on to paper, canvas, concrete, or whatever you use. As an artist, inspiration is very important to me. Through inspiration I have formed a style. Certain elements which reoccur or reappear in my work is the connection and unity of colors and shapes of different sizes. There is a starting point which I build off of. There is rarely any separation between the lines or colors. I always strive to create something visually appealing , which I believe is the goal for most artists. I’m all about the aesthetics which can be seen in my previous and present body of work. Currently I have been doing a lot of pencil and pen drawings. I’m taking it back to basics right now. It’s something I need to do to become a better artist in the future. If you are reading this, it means you have either read the whole statement, or just scanned through and ended up reading the final paragraph, whatever the case may be, thank you for taking the time to read about someone you may or may not know.
